About the Foundation

The Lewis and Clark Community College Foundation is a non-profit corporation organized under the laws of the State of Illinois. The Foundation supports Lewis and Clark Community College and its students through scholarships, awards, and other assistance.

Contributions to the Foundation are accepted in many forms, including cash and cash pledges, securities, endowments, scholarships, trusts, insurance and estate-planned gifts. In addition, many help the Foundation by sponsoring and attending fund-raising events and by volunteering at these events.

At the discretion of the donor, individual or corporate donations may be designated as either unrestricted or restricted (targeted) to a specific group or need, such as a memorial scholarship.

Foundation Board

Rob Schwartz, President

Rob SchwartzRob is the Senior Vice President – Commercial Market at Busey Bank and oversees business development efforts and overall growth in Madison County. Formerly with TheBANK of Edwardsville for the last 15 years, Rob was responsible for the retail and business banking operations. He is very active in the community, serving on the Riverbend Growth Association Board (Past Board Chair), SIUE’s School of Business Advisory Board, actively involved with the United Way, and serving on the Madison County Leadership Board of the American Cancer Society. Rob graduated from Bradley University with a bachelor’s degree in business management and radio/television. He lives in Godfrey, IL, with his wife, Suzanne. They have two adult children, Elizabeth and Joe.

Ajay Pathak, Vice President

Ajay PathakAjay is the Chief Strategic Ventures Officer, President for Mercy Health System, a four-state not-for-profit healthcare system, based out of Chesterfield, MO. He leads the strategic, retail venture and partnership portfolios. Prior to that, he served as President & CEO of OSF Saint Anthony's Health Center in Alton and the OSF Healthcare System Chief Integration Officer. Ajay earned his Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biology and Sociology, with an emphasis in Healthcare from Union College and a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Harvard School of Public Health. He also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA), with a concentration in Finance, from Georgetown University. Ajay serves on numerous community and academic focused boards, including the American Cancer Society (ACS) of Madison County.

Theodore (Ted) Zimmermann, Secretary/Treasurer

Ted ZimmermannTed was formerly the Vice President of Human Resources at Olin Corporation—Winchester Division. He is a graduate of Saint Louis University, where he received his Master of Business Administration.

Dr. Ken Trzaska, President of Lewis and Clark Community College

Ken TrzaskaKen takes office as the sixth president of Lewis and Clark Community College on September 21, 2020. In addition to his role at L&C, he serves as president of the Community College Council of Presidents and co-chair of the System Council of Presidents. Ken earned a Doctor of Education in Education Policy and Organization Leadership from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. His master’s degree is in English from the College of St. Rose, and he earned an Institute for Educational Management (IEM) Certification from Harvard University’s College of Education and Harvard Program for College Presidents. Ken also has a Bachelor of Science in English from the State University of New York College at Brockport. He comes to Lewis and Clark from Seward County Community College in Liberal, Kansas, where he has served as president since 2015.

Dwight Werts, Chair of the L&C Board of Trustees

Dwight WertsDwight is President CEO of Werts Welding & Tank Service, Inc. in Wood River, Illinois. An alumnus of L&C, he is an elected member of the College’s Board of Trustees. Dwight is Vice-Chair of OSF Saint Anthony’s Health Center Community Advisory Board, past Chairman and a current board member of the Riverbend Growth Association, also serving on its executive committee, and a board member of Great Rivers Land Trust. He and his wife, Cheryl, live in Godfrey and have two children and six grandchildren.

Marlene Barach

Marlene BarachMarlene served as a tenured faculty member and program coordinator at Lewis and Clark Community College for 22 years. Upon retirement she served on the L&C Board of Trustees from 2007-2019. She is a Civic Memorial High School graduate who earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Education from Illinois State University and her master’s degree in Business Education from Indiana University. Barach is also involved with other community organizations, including the Gatekeepers Community Housing Development Corporation of Bethalto and Madison County.

Dave Braasch

David BraachDave has served as the president of Alton Memorial Hospital since 2007. He played an instrumental role in Alton Memorial’s growth through as Assistant Administrator of Support Services and Vice President of Professional Services and Business Development. He holds a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy and a Master of Business Administration from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Dave serves on the board of directors for the Southwestern Illinois Employers Association, the RiverBend Growth Association and Riverbend Head Start and Family Services. He is also the board past-president of the American Diabetes Association Leadership Council for Madison County and Trinity St. Paul Lutheran School Board.

Mark Darr

Mark DarrMark is the CEO of Federal Steel and Erection Company. A lifelong resident of the Alton/Godfrey area, Mark graduated from Alton High School then spent five years in an Iron Workers Apprenticeship program. While working, he attended L&C and SIUE part-time studying construction and business and planning to own his own business. He founded Federal Steel and Erection and built it into the 90-employee company that it is today.

Michael E. Fitzgerald

Mike FitzegeraldMike is the Principal of Scheffel Boyle Certified Public Accountants. He joined Scheffel Boyle in 1983. Mike graduated from Notre Dame in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration - Accounting and became a Certified Public Accountant. He has served on several community boards including The RiverBend Growth Association and The St. Anthony’s Foundation. Originally from Alton, Mike lives in Godfrey with his wife, Sue. They have four children and nine grandchildren.

Thomas W. Hough

Thomas HoughTom is the Chairman and CEO of Carrollton Bank, which has branches in Illinois and Missouri. He is a past Chairman of the Illinois Bankers Association and a member of the Regional Business Council and the University of Illinois College of Business Dean’s Business Council. Tom serves as a director on the boards of the Foundation for Barnes-Jewish Hospital and the Jefferson National Parks Association. Tom graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Finance. He and his wife, Suzanne have two children.

Mark Kratschmer

Mark KratschmerMark is a lifelong resident of the River Bend. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a BBA in Accountancy and holds CPA certificates in Illinois and Missouri. Mark retired as Vice President of Wegman Electric Company. In addition to his role with the Lewis and Clark Foundation, he is currently Chairman of the OSF St. Anthony’s Hospital Board, President of The Alton Foundation and a member of the UCB Liberty Bank Community Board. He is also a past chairman of the River Bend Growth Association and the Southwest Illinois United Way Campaign and past Treasurer of the Marquette Catholic High School Foundation. Mark and his wife, Mary Jo, live in Godfrey. They have two grown children.

Dave Loellke

David LoellkeDavid is the owner of Loellke Plumbing Inc., which he started in 1992 with his wife, Stacey. Loellke Plumbing began as a one-man shop and has grown to over 30 employees. David grew up in Jersey County and attended Lewis and Clark Community College, Ranken Technical College and Belleville Area College. David and Stacey have two children, Bill and Brendan.

Michael L. Moehn

Michael L. MoehnMichael has served as senior executive vice president and CFO of Ameren Corp. and president of Ameren Services since 2019. In this role, he is responsible for all aspects of Ameren's financial affairs, including Investor Relations, Financial Reporting, accounting, and much more. Michael joined Ameren in 2000 and has taken on many roles since, including president of Ameren Missouri (Missouri's largest energy provider), serving more than 1.2 million customers across Missouri, including the greater St. Louis area. Michael has a bachelor's degree in accounting from Saint Louis University, a master's degree in business administration from Washington University in St. Louis, and a certificate in nuclear reactor technology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is chairman of the board for the Urban League and serves on the board of directors for Concordance Academy of Leadership, Midwest BankCentre, the St. Louis Police Foundation and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI). He also sits on the United Way of Greater St. Louis executive committee and was a past chairman of the board for United Way of Greater St. Louis.

Tim Noble

Tim NobleTim Noble serves as president of Hortica, a brand of the Sentry Insurance Group. He was named to the Hortica board of directors in 2018. Tim joined Sentry in 2011 as the director of underwriting and product management in Standard Consumer Products. Tim managed the national agency sales force for Dairyland®, another brand of the Sentry Insurance Group for the four years prior to joining Hortica. Tim is from Illinois and received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance from the University of Iowa. He and his wife, Angie, live in Edwardsville, Illinois.

Ray W. Rigdon

Ray RigdonRay serves as Vice President for Phillips 66 at the Wood River Refinery. He has extensive experience in the refining field, working with Phillips 66 in several leadership roles and locations, including Refinery Manager at the Billings and Alliance Refineries. Ray was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He earned a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from the University of Tulsa.

Sharon Roberts

Sharon RobertsSharon is a retired bank executive with Metro Savings Bank. She has been active in the community for many years. Sharon attended Lewis and Clark and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. She and her husband reside in Alton and have five children.

Jerry Rumph, MHA, FACHE

Jerry RumphJerry is the President of OSF HealthCare Saint Anthony’s Health Center in Alton, IL. He has 25 years of healthcare experience and has implemented solutions for operational, financial, quality and regulatory issues, in addition to military leadership experience that includes expertise in disaster planning and the use of telemedicine for primary care. He was the chief executive officer of Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital in St. Louis. He also has served in a variety of leadership positions with SSM Health, a Catholic not-for-profit health system based in Missouri. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology at Northern Illinois University in De Kalb and a master’s degree in healthcare administration from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.

Jane Saale

Jane SaaleJane is President and Chief Executive Officer of Cope Plastics, Inc. She graduated from Alton Senior High School in 1983 and in 1987 graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business. She immediately started her career at Cope Plastics in sales, and in 1996, she became the Chief Financial Officer. Since October 2004, she has served as President and CEO of the company. Jane is married to Steve, and they have five children. She serves on several boards throughout the community, and she and her family reside in Brighton.

Matt Schrimpf

Matt SchrimpfMatt is president of HWRT Oil Co. located in Hartford. His great-grandfather, Emil Schrimpf, started the business in 1932. In 1995, after graduating from the University of Illinois, Matt joined the company and is proud to be a fourth-generation owner. He is also president of The Sports Academy in Glen Carbon, a premier indoor soccer facility, and currently serves on the St. Louis Bank Board and the United Way Advisory Board. Matt was United Way Campaign Co-Chair in 2020. He has served on several other boards of directors in the petroleum and finance industries. Matt and his wife, Jenn, live in Alton, IL and have three children.

Joan Sheppard

Joan SheppardJoan has volunteered for nearly 50 educational, cultural, recreational, beautification, health and social services organizations, most notably as a member of the Alton Community Unit School District No. 11 Board of Education, including her service as president 2001-2002. She is an original member of the L&C Foundation’s board of directors and has served for nearly 50 years. For her service, Joan has been awarded 24 awards and recognitions, including the prestigious St. Louis Women of Achievement Award. She planned and endowed an inspirational garden at L&C named “River of Colors” that symbolizes her love and concern for her community. Joan attended the University of Illinois, and she and her husband, Charles, live in Godfrey, have four adult children, and are grandparents and great-grandparents.

Karen Wilson

Karen WilsonKaren Wilson has been a State Farm agent in Godfrey for over seventeen years. Prior to owning her own business, Karen was a middle school teacher and administrator for Alton School District #11. She volunteers her time on numerous boards and non-profit organizations throughout the Riverbend. She attended the University of Missouri and graduated with her Master of Science degree in Educational Administration from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. She is an Alton native. Karen and her husband, Dennis, currently live in Godfrey and have three children and eight grandchildren.

Dr. Dale Chapman, Executive Director

Dale ChapmanDale served as President of Lewis and Clark Community College from 1992 until 2020. He continues as the Executive Director of the Foundation. Dale is a graduate of the University of Kentucky, Michigan State University and earned his Doctorate from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. He is married to Dr. Linda T. Chapman. They reside in Alton, Illinois and have two adult children.
