In January 2013, Lewis and Clark entered into a partnership with the Health & Safety Council Satellite (formerly the Houston Area Safety Council) to deliver ARSC© (Association of Reciprocal Council) certified training.
As a satellite, this enables us to administer the nationally recognized Basic Orientation Plus® safety training, its refresher program, and a library of computer-based modules, some of which were created by the Association of Reciprocal Safety Councils (ARSC) to help meet a significant portion of the OSHA mandated contractor requirements. ARSC-approved courses are reciprocally recognized by many other safety councils across the United States.
Facility Operations:
- Plan to arrive early: Identification will be verified, payments processed, photos taken for badges and routing slips issued. Processing is handled on a first-come, first-served basis.

- Basic Orientation Plus® session starts promptly at 8 a.m.
- All training delivered at the Bethalto Training Center will be administered in a proctored setting.
- Suitcase training can be offered at your location upon coordination with Dawn Zedolek. Call for details as pricing will be reflected for this variation.
- ARSC rules do not permit note-taking, so contractors may study or preview the course topics in advance with the Basic Orientation Plus® study guide.
- Registrations can be made via faxed forms or online via the HASC Extranet once a customer ID and account have been established for a contractor firm. Please call (618) 468-5782 or (618) 468-5785 to start this process, obtain the correct forms and check available safety orientation dates.
- The late deadline for faxed registrations is noon on the day prior to a class. Your company representative will be contacted by 3 p.m. the day prior to confirm the status of the registered participants. The earlier the registration, the earlier you can receive a confirmation.
