College for Kids is a personal enrichment program for children of all ages - from pre-school through high school.
Through College for Kids, students can discover new talents, expand their knowledge and enjoy hands-on learning under the guidance of experienced educators.
Programs are offered year-round at multiple locations in Madison County, with a concentration of courses scheduled in the summer.

More than 20,000 young people have participated in hands-on learning in math, science, creative arts, technology and languages since the program began in 1989.
Other enrichment opportunities for students include classes in digital photography, horsemanship, musical theatre, golf, eco-science, robotics, cooking, local history, engineering, basketball and music. Classes are taught by highly qualified instructors, including L&C faculty and educators from local school districts.

Week One: June 2-6
Camp Waterschool
Water, Water Everywhere! We use it every day, but have you ever stopped to think about where it comes from? How much do we have on the planet? In this camp, we will discover and explore water using our local rivers as inspiration. Through hands-on activities, arts and crafts, and outdoor adventures, campers will see our local rivers in a whole new way. The week will include a visit to a working lock and dam, stream walks and will culminate with a canoe trip led by experienced guides. By reflecting on their personal experiences with the river, campers will appreciate how they can make positive differences in their watershed and community. This 4-day camp will be held at the National Great Rivers Research and Education Center.

Creative Gardener Camp
Discover the Monticello Sculpture Gardens at LC! In this class, students will explore LC’s many gardens and learn about plants and nature through creative, hands-on activities. Students will learn how to grow and take care of plants, explore the greenhouse, hike through the trails and prairies on campus, and learn about plant ID, insects and local pollinators. Students will also create art with plants, color bandanas with natural plant dyes, and build bug hotels. This class will be held primarily outdoors unless there is inclement weather, and students should come prepared with water, sunblock, hats, and sturdy shoes.

Balloonatics
Calling all Balloonatics! Every day of this camp is an exciting balloon bash! Learn to create over 20 balloon animals, spin out with UFO balloons and make a balloon helicopter that really flies! Each day campers take home a different novelty balloon— racecar balloons, rocket balloons, and more! Camp concludes with the Balloonatics showing off their skills in a balloon twist jam for their families. Come join the fun in this unique, creative camp!

Lewis and Clark Jr. Explorer Camp
Here is your chance to join the Lewis and Clark Expedition and become a full-fledged member of the Junior Explorers. Learn the history of the Lewis and Clark Expedition by training at Camp River Dubois, their first Winter Encampment. Applicants should be prepared to train as a member of the Expedition by bettering their frontier skills, learning to serve in the US Army in 1803-04, preparing their own meals, making a journal, mending their uniform, identifying various native plants and animals, and many more tasks. This week-long camp will be held at the Lewis and Clark State Historic Site - inside the interpretive center and in the historic replica of Camp River Dubois.

Robotics 101 with LEGO® WeDo Education
Students will build LEGO® creations from WeDo® Education, turning them into robots programmed to do exactly what they tell them to do. Robotics 101 uses drag and drop iconbased programming and offers an introduction into the fun of building with LEGO® Bricks. Additionally, the students will face the challenge of computer programming some pretty awesome robots that will equip them to succeed in a technology-based marketplace. They will also have fun playing camp-style games and a few LEGO® building challenges. Get your student ready for a fun, action-packed week that combines real-life skills with real-kid fun! Let’s Create an Amusement Park in LEGO® Bricks Style
Do you love thrills, chills, and exciting rides at amusement parks? Then buckle up and join us for the fun. Campers will build motorized rides out of LEGO® Technic Bricks each day, play games and learn what features an amusement park should have. On the last day of camp, they will build their park to let their mini figures enjoy the day. Parents can arrive early at pickup time on the last day of camp to see the Amusement Park! Stop Motion Animation with LEGO® Brick
Ready on the set! Action! Students learn how to develop a storyboard, then put that to use in designing their movie set using LEGO® bricks to tell their story, complete with music, special effects and all their favorite LEGO® mini-figure characters! In this fun and creative camp, students will plan, script, stage, shoot, and produce their own mini-movie using Stop Motion Animation. Students work in a small production team of 3-4 people, use LEGO® components to build the set and props, and then shoot their movie using a web camera. Teams will use movie-making software to add special effects, titles, credits and more. When the movie is complete, students will have a premiere screening party on the last day of camp. Don't let your kid miss their chance to be a movie producer! They will also have fun playing camp-style games and a few LEGO-building challenges throughout the week. Students will receive a copy of the movies the whole class created as well as a LEGO® mini figure.
